The former carpenter turned financial influencer, who goes by Huddy online, sparked a huge debate after sharing on social media that he had “officially left Australia” and wasn’t planning on returning because the “country is f***ed”. Despite his strong feelings about leaving Australia “permanently”, he hasn’t shared where he has decided to move. Huddy clarified that he didn’t leave because he “hates” his home country, instead it was because the country “forced (him) to leave” because of the way it is being run. He citied the cost of living, “mass immigration”, taxes and the Anthony Albanese government as some of the reasons behind his decision to leave. I was getting taxed 45 to 50 per cent of my f***ing income,” he said. For reference, in order for a person to be paying an income tax rate of 45 per cent, they would need to be earning over $190,000 a year. In a previous video talking about why he quit his construction job, Huddy revealed he was being paid about $5000 a month. The Aussie’s profile now simply states he “makes money online”, while posting videos spruiking his financial successes. Continuing his rant, the ex-tradie branded the cost of living in Australia “completely cooked”, noting it is becoming increasingly impossible to break into the housing market. “This is exactly why I am leaving because I think this country is f***ed beyond repair and it is only going to get worse. So, it just didn’t make sense for me to stay,” Huddy said. The ex-tradie branded Australia ‘completely cooked’. News.com.au has contacted Huddy for comment. Since sharing the video late last month, the clip has gained almost 400,000 views and just under 2000 comments. There were those who agreed with the young Aussie, with some even revealing they were also planning to move away. “I’m leaving to Bali in December to live there,” one person said. “We are leaving too. Can’t afford just a simple lifestyle like buying a house, having children,” another wrote. One added: I am joining you too. Too much tax from the government. Doesn’t make sense at all.” He said the housing crisis is out of control, along with the cost of living. Picture: NCA NewsWire / Max Mason-Hubers Others agreed with his sentiment, branding Australia a “joke”, while one claimed the country is “truly doomed”. However, Huddy’s rant also sparked backlash, with plenty of people quick to point out the holes in his argument. “If you’re paying 50 per cent tax then you have the worst accountant in Australia mate,” one person said. “It’s always a chuckle when people say they’re leaving Australia because of immigration; yet they’re doing the very thing they so ignorantly believe is ruining Australia,” another wrote.
