Gen-Z Employee Exposes Indian Manager Who Asked Them To Work On Leave, Redditors Say 'The Desi Boss Is Piece Of Sh*t'

An Indian employee revealed her “suffocating” experience of dealing with a strict and apathetic company manager on the internet. Detailing her ordeal with a post on Reddit’s ‘r/IndianWorkplace’, this UK-based employee revealed how her “toxic” Indian manager forced her to work on an off day and consequently faced a backlash from the top management when she raised her concern.
In her post titled, “My toxic Indian manager felt insulted after I exposed him to the UK team”, the employee vented out her frustration against her strict boss for turning her life hell ever since he replaced a more understanding German manager at the company two years ago.
Indian Employee’s Tryst With Strict Manager
“So, let’s say my manager’s name is ‘A’. I’m Gen Z, born in 2000. I work at a UK-based company. Everything was fine until two years ago when an Indian manager replaced our German manager,” wrote the woman on Reddit. “I work at a UK based company, it was all good until 2 years ago when an Indian manager took over my team from the German manager.”

In her post, the active professional detailed how this Indian manager introduced certain strict regulations for employees to abide by. “He made us announce our breaks on Teams before stepping away and limited us to only two 30-minute breaks. He convinced our director and business unit heads that his new rules improved productivity, so no one questioned him,” she wrote.
The manager backed it up with scheduled three-hour daily stand-up meetings, something that the employee felt was “suffocating”. The woman’s only respite in the situation was working mainly with her UK colleagues and not having to deal with the toxic manager too frequently.
How The Employee Found Relief
But things took an ugly turn when the manager called her repeatedly on WhatsApp during her approved leave and forced her to join a work meeting. “I joined the call, and as soon as I did, my programme manager asked why I was there. I told them, ‘I was asked to join.’ Everyone immediately told him, ‘A, this wouldn’t fly with UK HR — you can’t do this.’ He turned off his camera right after,” she said.
The employee found relief after a colleague of hers got their German director also on the call. The director saw the employee working on her approved leave and promptly asked her to log off, while others called out the manager. “Now my manager is angry, saying I manipulated people and tried to ruin his image. But I’m happy I did it. Now everyone knows how toxic he is,” she wrote.
