“Entitlement is no longer acceptable to Gen X, Y, Z”: The words of Congress leader Manish Tewari seem to have sparked another controversy in the political battleground after the Bharatiya Janata Party linked his statement to attack Rahul Gandhi, whom the saffron party referred to as the “ultimate Nepo Kid of Indian politics”.
While Tewari was highlighting the problems that South and East Asia are currently facing in the wake of the social media trends, the BJP linked his comments to dynasts of the grand old party.
The Congress leader took to his X and highlighted the toppling of several Asian governments in recent times and the growing public outrage against them over social media. Exemplifying the governments of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and now Philippines, Tewari talked about the resistance they faced and said that the current generation no longer accepts entitlement.
“The toppling of – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Sri Lanka in July 2023, Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh in July 2024, KP Sharma Oli in Nepal in September 2025 and now the protests against Ferdinand Marcos Jr in Philippines have won word written over them ENTITLEMENT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE TO GEN X, Y, Z,” he wrote on X.

BJP Links Tewari’s Nepo Remark To Rahul Gandhi
Soon after the Congress leader’s statement, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya quickly responded and aimed at Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, terming him the “Nepo Kid” of Indian politics.
“Forget Gen Z, even Congress’s own veterans are fed up with his regressive politics. The revolt is now from within!” Malviya tweeted.

Congress Leader Clarifies
Following Malviya’s remarks, Manish Tewari replied and took a jibe at Malviya saying, “Gosh, I just wish that some people would grow up in life.”
He clarified that everything should everything should not be dumbed down to Congress or BJP, instead suggested to focus on what’s happening in South and East Asia. He further stated that this might have serious national security implications and therefore suggested that it is important to understand what is happening in the correct perspective.
