BURTON, Ohio — The Geauga County Historical Society will host its 77th annual Apple Butter Festival on Oct. 11 and 12 at the Century Village Museum in Burton, offering two days of fall traditions, food and family-friendly activities.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and celebrates the age-old craft of making apple butter. Visitors can watch as crafters stir simmering apples and learn how the seasonal treat is prepared.
The weekend will feature artisan vendors, historical exhibits and live entertainment, including a Saturday performance by the Twisted Toyze Band from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and a noon dance recital by the Burton Ballet Company. An ox roast with sandwiches, coleslaw, apple butter baked beans and chips will be served, along with other food offerings.
Children’s activities include bouncy houses, a corn sandbox, corn hole games, creative crafts, train rides, bubble making and a pumpkin carving contest. Adults can take in historical house tours, view the Threads of Valor exhibit, enjoy a beer garden and wine vineyard, or join an apple peeling contest.
The festival aims to capture the spirit of fall in Northeast Ohio while highlighting Geauga County’s heritage. For more information, contact the Geauga County Historical Society at 440-834-1492 or info@geaugahistorical.org.
