By: Kwame Bediako The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Saturday, November 8, 2025, held its 29th Media Awards ceremony at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, recognizing journalists who showed exceptional dedication and professionalism throughout the year. The event celebrated standout achievements across various media platforms, with Godwin Asidiba emerging as Journalist of the Year and Doreen Ampofo of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) winning Best Female Journalist. Excellence in news reporting was acknowledged in print, broadcast, and online media. Severious Kale-Dery from Daily Graphic won Best Print News Reporting, while freelance journalist Nabil Ahmed Rufai was named Best Television News Reporter. Ridwan Karim Dini-Osman of the EIB Network was awarded Best Radio News Reporter, and Albert Oppong Ansah of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) took home the prize for Best Online News Reporting, reflecting the diverse strengths in Ghanaian journalism. The awards also celebrated excellence in feature and documentary storytelling. Rachel Kakraba of GBC won Best Radio Feature Reporting, and Doreen Ampofo earned Best Radio Documentary Reporting. Godwin Asidiba secured Best Television Documentary Reporting, reinforcing his recognition as Journalist of the Year. Other key winners included Muftau Nabila Abdulai for Sports Reporting and Abigail Annoh of Ghanaian Times for Health Reporting. Journalists specializing in various fields also received honors. Nabil Ahmed Rufai was recognized for Arts and Entertainment reporting, while Rosemond Akuorkor Adjetey from GHONE TV won for Business and Economics. The prestigious Akoto Apaw Award for Democracy and Good Governance went to Ebenezer Madugu of Atinka. Doreen Ampofo won additional accolades as Best Gender Reporter, highlighting her remarkable contributions to the industry. Broadcast stations and programs were also celebrated for outstanding performance. GTV and Citi FM were named Best English TV and Radio Stations, respectively, while Adom TV and Peace FM were awarded Best Akan TV and Radio Stations. Showbiz A-Z won Best English Radio Entertainment Program, and Asempa’s Ekosis3n took Best Radio or TV Program. Clinton Yeboah from KNUST was recognized as Best Student Journalist, showcasing emerging talent in Ghana.
