The Ogun State Government has announced the official launch of full commercial flight operations at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu-Ilishan, starting October 7, 2025.

This landmark development kicks off with direct flights between Ogun State and Abuja, operated by ValueJet, a rapidly growing Nigerian airline.According to the approved schedule, flights will depart from Gateway International Airport every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m., with return flights from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, taking off at 4:00 p.m. on the same days.

Tickets for these inaugural flights have been available since September 25, 2025, through online booking platforms, accredited travel agents, and airport ticket desks.

The launch marks a significant milestone in Ogun State’s ambition to become Nigeria’s emerging hub for aviation, commerce, and industrial growth.

The airport is expected to enhance connectivity between Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory, drive economic activity, attract investors, and facilitate seamless business and leisure travel for residents and visitors.

“This is a transformative step for Ogun State,” a government spokesperson said. “The Gateway International Airport will not only strengthen ties with Abuja but also position our state as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation and economic landscape.”
