The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will close the registration window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 today, October 6, 2025. After the regular deadline ends, candidates will still be able to apply for GATE 2026 by paying a late fee. The extended registration window will remain open till October 9, 2025. (Representational Image)
This year, IIT Guwahati will conduct the GATE 2026 exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The results are scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2026. The exam is held every year for admission to postgraduate engineering and science programmes, as well as recruitment in PSUs. (Representational Image)
To apply, candidates need to visit the official GATE website and create an account using their email ID and mobile number. They must fill in personal details, educational qualifications, and select their preferred GATE paper and exam city before uploading scanned documents. (Representational Image)
Applicants are required to upload a recent passport-size photograph, signature, valid ID proof, and degree or provisional certificate. Category certificates must also be uploaded by candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or PwD categories. (Representational Image)
The application fee for GATE 2026 is Rs 1,000 for female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates (Rs 1,500 with late fee). For all other candidates, the fee is Rs 2,000 (Rs 2,500 with late fee). Payments can be made online using any digital mode. (Representational Image)
After completing the payment and verifying details, candidates should download and print the confirmation page for future reference. The GATE 2026 admit card will be released later on the official website before the exam. (Representational Image)
