A drug supply network allegedly targeting college students was busted in Mahabubnagar following a joint operation by the Mahabubnagar unit of EAGLE team and the Jadcherla Town Police. Four persons were arrested, and 250 grams of marijuana was seized from their possession. Police said that the operation was launched after a WhatsApp complaint alerted authorities of the presence of peddlers supplying marijuana to students in and around Jadcherla. Acting on the tip-off, the EAGLE and local police apprehended the accused, identified as Nani Koushik alias Marikanti Sumanth Reddy, Abdul Rahaman, a tea stall worker from Jadcherla, Subodh Kanth Sharma, a security guard from Bihar, and Mithu Kumar Yadav, a security supervisor also from Bihar. During interrogation, police found that Mithu Kumar had procured marijuana from a supplier named S. Singh of Nepal at a rate of ₹79,500 per kg. The seized material was packed and readied for distribution among college students. A case has been registered at the Jadcherla Town Police Station. Further investigation is underway to trace the Nepal-based supplier and other members of the network.
