Gang of seven who posed as enforcement officials arrested for robbing ₹1.5 crore and 50 grams of gold valuables

The Yelanakha police arrested a gang of seven, who posed as ‘enforcement wing’ officials and robbed over ₹1.5 crore worth valuables in September.

The accused wore suits and barged into the house of Giriraj Kumar, who was residing with his family members at Vinayaka Nagar. On the pretext of investigation, the gang threatened his family members and made away with ₹1.5 crore and 50 grams of gold valuables.

The police launched a probe and tracked down the gang. They identified the accused as Shankarappa, Rajendra Jain, Hemanth Jain, Srinivas Gowda, Jagan Mohan, Srinivas, and Kiran Jain.

The police have reportedly recovered ₹1.27 crore in cash from the accused. Efforts were on to track down the eighth accused who had been on the run. The accused were businessmen and real estate agents from the city and Andhra Pradesh.

The probe revealed that Shankarappa, one of the accused, worked as a driver at professor Kumar’s house. He allegedly got the information that the professor sold a piece of land and kept the cash at home to purchase a property. Shankarappa shared the information with his friends who were into real estate business and hatched a plan to rob the money.

As per the plan, they came to the house in a car to pose as enforcement wing officials and took away the cash and other valuables on the pretext of probing unaccounted money.

City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh appreciated the work and announced cash reward for the team that nabbed the gang.
