State-run Gail (India) on Friday reported a 26 per cent Y-o-Y decline in its consolidated net profit at around ₹1,989 crore in Q2 FY26 due largely to widening losses in the petrochemicals segment and almost flat income from natural gas transmission services. On a sequential basis, the net profit of India’s largest gas utility declined by 16.5 per cent. GAIL’s consolidated total income during Q2 FY26 stood at around ₹35,894 crore, compared to ₹35,573 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹34,258 crore in Q2 FY25. The Maharatna company’s consolidated total expenses during the September quarter were on the higher side. GAIL reported expenses of ₹33,608 crore in Q2 FY26 against ₹32,966 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹31,154 crore in Q2 FY25. On a consolidated basis, GAIL’s income from natural gas transmission services stood at about ₹1,414 crore in Q2 FY26 compared to ₹1,558 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹1,403 crore in Q2 FY25. GAIL’s petrochemicals business reported a loss of almost ₹345 crore (consolidated) in Q2 FY26, compared to a loss of ₹290 crore in Q1 FY26 and a profit of ₹146 crore. The company’s natural gas transmission volume stood at 123.59 million standard cubic meters per day (MSCMD) in Q2 FY26 and its gas marketing volume stood at 105.49 MSCMD. The LHC (liquid Hydrocarbon) and polymer sale stood at 223,000 tonnes and 209,000 tonnes, respectively, in Q2 FY26, as compared to 198,000 tonnes and 177,000 tonnes, respectively in Q1 FY26. GAIL CMD Sandeep Kumar Gupta said the company’s Srikakulum Angul (SAPL) pipeline has been dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister. Besides, GAIL has received PNGRB’s authorisation to lay the Vijaipur-Bina pipeline involving a capex of around ₹450 crore to be completed in a duration of three years. The company incurred a capex of around ₹1,662 crore during Q2 FY26, mainly on pipelines, petrochemicals, etc, taking its cumulative capex up to Rs 4,838 crore in H1 FY26. Published on October 31, 2025
