Ga State Recognizes Ubor Magal Kuunboln as Greater Accra Konkomba Chief

The Ga State, through its Mankralo and Paramount Chief of the Sempe Traditional Council, Nii Adotey Otintor II, has officially recognized Ubor Magal Kuunboln as the new Greater Accra Konkomba Chief. The formal recognition and registration ceremony took place at the Sempe Palace in Accra, where Ubor Kuunboln and his elders were introduced to the Ga leadership on behalf of the Konkomba community. From Ashaiman-Tema to Greater Accra Leadership Ubor Magal Kuunboln previously served as the Ashaiman-Tema Konkomba Bassare Chief before his elevation to oversee the entire Greater Accra region. His introduction to Nii Adotey Otintor II — who also serves as President of the Sempe Traditional Council and Mankralo of the Ga State — marked a new chapter in the longstanding relationship between the Ga and Konkomba communities. Ceremony of Unity and Tradition The colorful event attracted several dignitaries, including Kenneth Wujanji, former Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), the Olebu Konkomba Chief, and other traditional and community leaders. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Wujanji explained that the introduction followed the passing of the previous Greater Accra Konkomba Chief last year. > “After our late chief was laid to rest earlier this year, the community began the process of selecting a new leader. Our main purpose here today is to officially introduce our new chief to you,” he said. Ga State’s Blessing Nii Adotey Otintor II warmly welcomed the new chief and his entourage, offering words of wisdom and guidance. > “As a leader, some people will like you and others may not, but love and listen to all of them if you want peace,” he advised. “Respect your people, and they will respect you in return. Focus on the youth, and you will enjoy your reign.” Chief Kuunboln’s Message of Peace In his remarks, Chief Ubor Magal Kuunboln expressed gratitude to the Sempe Traditional Council for their recognition and hospitality. > “We appreciate the warm reception and assurance of support from the Sempe Traditional Council. The unity and peace we enjoy in Greater Accra will be maintained and strengthened under my leadership,” he said. He also thanked the Konkomba elders and community members for their trust and support. > “It’s been a week since my installation, but we delayed making it public because we first wanted to pay respect to the custodians of the land. You cannot be a chief on someone’s land without introducing yourself,” he noted. “Now that we have done that, I want the world to know that the Konkomba community in Greater Accra has a new chief — Ubor Magal Kuunboln. Any other claims should be disregarded.” Strengthening Cultural Bonds The ceremony symbolized a renewed partnership between the Ga State and the Konkomba community, underscoring a shared commitment to cooperation, mutual respect, and cultural harmony. — By Benjamin Antwi
