FX has ordered a second season of the comedy series from creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw. The renewal comes five months after the show’s first season released all at once on Hulu. Adults stars Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao and Owen Thiele as five twentysomethings who share a house in Queens and few boundaries. As FX describes it, the show “puts a slightly heightened twist on the wins, losses and humiliations of starting out in the adult world. Whether they’re trying to get ahead at work, navigating the healthcare system, hosting a dinner party or dating in the age of Find My Friends, the group is finding that nothing about the real world is simple, and all their best intentions tend to make things worse.” Related Stories Allison Rawlings Named Head of FX Publicity and Communications Zach Galifianakis, Kumail Nanjiani Among Six Cast in FX's 'Very Young Frankenstein' “Ben and Rebecca are incredibly talented writers, and they have expertly and hilariously captured the experience of being a young adult in today’s world,” said Kate Lambert, executive vp development for FX Entertainment. “The entire cast — Malik, Lucy, Jack, Amita and Owen — is exceptional in bringing it to life in a way that has truly connected with its audience.” Adults earned mostly positive reviews from critics. The Hollywood Reporter’s Angie Han praised the show’s “appealingly grungy, lived-in vibe” (while also noting that, like the characters, the series needed some time to figure out what it wants to be). Adults comes from FX Productions. Kronengold and Shaw executive produce with Nick Kroll, Sarah Naftalis, Jonathan Krisel and Rob Rosell.
