A woman who shot at a man on the Las Vegas Strip after he made joke that rubbed her the wrong way will not face any jail time for violent outburst.
Secret Ann White, 21, of Iowa, opened fire on Sebastian Angulo on June 8 after he cracked a joke while the two crossed paths on Las Vegas Boulevard South.
It is unclear what Angulo remarked, but police said that it ‘agitated’ White.
She responded by pulling out handgun and firing several shots at the man and the group he was with at the time.
On Tuesday, a judge ordererd White to serve four years probation and stay away from the Strip, citing her lack of criminal history, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
White also promised the judge she would change her life and said that she plans to start working.
‘She has indicated that she does want to get on track and figure her life out,’ he attorney said.
‘She will be staying off the Strip.’
White pleaded guilty in August to a count of battery with use of a deadly weapon, admitting that she shot at Angulo.
Angulo and his friends were walking back to their hotel shortly before 6am.
On their way back, White and six others in her group were passing in the opposite direction, headed north on Las Vegas Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Security footage captured the woman pulling out a handgun from her tote bag.
She dropped the firearm, picked it back up, and fired multiple shots as Angulo’s group and others ran for safety.
They made their way to the valet area of the Circus Circus hotel, where they found armed security staff.
White and the rest of her group could be seen going to the hotel’s parking lot, according to police.
Police used the security footage from Circus Circus to identify White as the shooter, and she was taken into custody on July 3 after returning to Las Vegas.
White confirmed to police that she was in the video but denied that she was shooting at the group.
The shooting occurred only hours before a YouTuber allegedly shot dead a rival and his wife during a livestream on the Las Vegas Strip.
The victims were livestreaming outside the Bellagio Casino at the time of the shooting and the shooting was captured on video.
‘It is believed that the suspect and victims knew each other, and had previously engaged in conflict over social media prior to the shooting,’ police said at the time.
