Full list of Irish food items pulled off shelves in Dunnes Stores, Lidl & SuperValu in recent weeks over health fears

AN URGENT warning has been issued to Irish shoppers after several products were pulled off shelves in several stores over health fears.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has released a number of recalls on Irish foods in recent weeks due to several health fears including Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially fatal bacterium.

And in a fresh alert, four food items has been recalled by several Irish supermarkets across the country.

The food safety authority has discovered that the products are affected by several health issue related and urged customers not to eat the affected products.

And they urged them to check their fridges and pantries to ensure the affected product is thrown out to prevent any consumption.

The FSAI reported that they have asked retailers to remove the affected batches from sale and display recall notices at the point of sale.

Here’s the full list of the recent food recalls alerts from the food safety authority.

Freshway is recalling the affected batch of Cafe Sol Pesto Pasta & Chicken due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

The product is sold in majority of Dunnes Stores.

The affected batch come in pack size of 224g and use by date: 25/09/2025.

The FSAI said: “Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

“In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.

“The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.”

ELEVATED LEVELS OF GLYCEROL

And the Toxic Waste Sour Slushy Freeze and Squeeze products has been recalled due to elevated levels of glycerol.

The affected product can cause headaches and vomiting in young children.

The recall affects the raspberry, lemon and lime and apple flavour products that come in 250ml pack size.

A warning has been added to the recall, saying: “Glycerol (E 422) is an approved food additive in the European Union (EU).

“It is used in slush ice drinks as a substitute or partial substitute for sugar and helps maintain the slushy texture by preventing the liquid from freezing solid.

“There is no maximum level set for its use in flavoured drinks, however, according to legislation, it must be used in foods at a level not higher than is necessary, to achieve its intended purpose.

“Because young children have a lower body weight, if they consume large quantities of glycerol in a short period of time, it is possible that some young children may experience side effects, such as headaches, nausea and/or vomiting.”

MISSING ALLERGY WARNING

Another recall alert has been issued for Healthy Fit Hazelnut Nougat Vegan Protein Bar sold in Lidl Ireland over missing allergy warning.

The product contains canola rapeseed protein isolate, which the label does not have the required warning for those who are allergic to mustard.

A warning has been issued, stating: “This may make the batches unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of mustard and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated product.

“The affected product is subject to recall.”

All pack size 60g batches with all best-before dates has been affected by the recall.

POSSIBLE PRESENCE OF MILK

The FSAI has issued an urgent recall alert for Bare Pantry dark chocolate coated products over the possible presence of milk.

The Bare Pantry products are sold at SuperValu and Centra.

All products of Bare Pantry that are covered in dart chocolate are affected, this includes Jumbo Raisins, Almonds, Hazelnuts, Brazils, Cashews and Pretzels.

The food safety authority said: “Milk is not declared on the label.

“This may make these products unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of milk and therefore, these consumers should not eat the implicated products. The affected products are being recalled. “

All pack sizes, all batch numbers and all best-before dates of the affected products are recalled.
