Frontier Airlines permanently cancels all flights to major airport

Frontier Airlines serves approximately 100 different destinations and runs up to 700 flights every day, according to Fly Frontier. Soon, however, it will have one fewer destination. That’s because the discount airline is permanently canceling all of its flights to a major international airport in the United States. Frontier Airlines ends flights to this international airport after Nov. 29 According to recent reports from News Channel 3, Frontier Airlines has decided to cease operations at Palm Springs International Airport. The airline said low demand prompted the change. “We are pausing our service at PSP at the end of next month in response to current market demand, but will continue to monitor conditions for opportunities to resume services. We greatly appreciate our partnership with the airport and the greater Palm Springs community,” a Frontier spokesperson told City News Service. Which Frontier Airlines flights are being permanently canceled? Frontier Airlines currently offers several flights from Palm Springs International Airport, all of which will be impacted by the airline’s decision to end service to this location. The affected flights include: PSP to Denver PSP to San Francisco These were nonstop flights. Here’s when Frontier Airlines is canceling all flights to PSP Frontier will continue operating flights to PSP throughout the month of November, so passengers traveling in the coming weeks will not face an immediate impact as a result of the decision. However, operations will cease effective November 29, 2025. This is not the first time Frontier has pulled out of PSP. Frontier had paused service to Palm Springs International Airport temporarily in the past, but had returned to the airport last year to offer the Denver and San Francisco flights. Airport affected by Frontier Airlines flight cancellations speaks out An airport spokesperson recently commented on the Frontier flight cancellations. Speaking to City News Service, the airport spokesperson said: “Palm Springs International Airport is not losing any nonstop destinations following Frontier’s decision to cease operations at PSP effective Nov. 29. Denver and San Francisco, the two routes Frontier served, remain offered year-round by other carriers: United and Southwest to DEN and United and Alaska to SFO. PSP continues to see record passenger growth, up nearly 5% year-to-date compared to last year, and we remain optimistic about continued strong air service in our market.” What do permanent flight cancellations mean for travelers? Unfortunately, some travelers are not happy about the permanent Frontier Airlines cancellations. One traveler who had purchased a Frontier Airlines GO WILD pass, which allows an unlimited number of flights, was especially upset about the situation. The traveler took to Facebook and stated the following in a post on the social media network: “The reason I bought my GW pass in June is because I live in Palm Springs. I only got to use it a few times. The next closest airport where Frontier flies is Ontario…. about 90 minutes away. So needless to say I am not happy.” More Airlines: Airline cuts last flight into this US city, refunds available TSA issues stern warning on item over 13 million Americans use Spirit Airlines cuts more flights and jobs amid second bankruptcy Unfortunately, situations like this can happen when airlines offer special promotions like this, or even in more basic circumstances where someone books travel and an airline decides to pull out of an airport entirely. Customers who were counting on Frontier to get them to their destination will have to make alternative plans after they thought they had their travel squared away. Unfortunately, while Frontier is a discount airline, several of the others serving PSP are not. This could mean some travelers end up paying considerably more to get to their end destination.
