Front Row Takes MENA For Egyptian Drama ‘The Tale Of Daye’s Family’

Front Row Filmed Entertainment has acquired all Middle East and North Africa rights, excluding theatrical exhibition in Egypt, for drama The Tale of Daye’s Family, in a deal struck with Saudi Arabia’s Big Time Fund.
The film world premiered as the opening film of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2024, and then also played at the Berlinale. It is directed by Egyptian director Karim El-Shenawy from a screenplay by Haitham Dabbour.
It follows Daye, an 11-year-old albino Nubian boy from southern Egypt who dreams of becoming a singer like his idol Mohamed Mounir. Accompanied by his mother, sister, and a devoted music teacher, he travels to Cairo, confronting bullying, prejudice, and the courage it takes to be seen and heard.
The film launched theatrically across the Gulf region on September 18, and it set to premiere on SVOD soon.
“Securing all MENA rights to The Tale of Daye’s Family is about more than distribution. It’s about amplifying a story that demands to be heard,” said Gianluca Chakra, CEO of Front Row Filmed Entertainment.
“Daye’s journey confronts bullying and celebrates inclusion, values we are proud to champion across every screen in the region.”
Front Row added that its partnership with Big Time Fund reflected a shared commitment to bringing bold, high-impact Arab and international cinema to audiences throughout MENA.
Big Time Fund operates as part of an initiative supported by Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, and invests in entertainment projects aimed at bolstering the country’s creative economy and amplifying Arab storytelling.
