BoCoPreps 10 & 10: Front Range’s top teams and players from Week 9 Each full week of the fall season, BoCoPreps is highlighting 10 teams and 10 athletes that had exceptional performances. Readers are encouraged to submit nominations to bwnew@prairiemountainmedia.com. 10 teams Broomfield softball: Lilly Smith homered twice in the Eagles’ first game at regionals, beating Grand Junction Central 12-0. Lauren Martinez then drove in six in a 15-3 win over Grandview in the championship game. Broomfield is the No. 1 seed in the 5A state tournament this weekend at Aurora Sports Park. Broomfield softball, behind Lauren Martinez, easily secures 5A Region 1 championship Fairview football: The Knights (7-1) beat Brighton 45-15 on Friday for their sixth straight win. They’ve scored 407 points this season, which is the most by any team in the state. Frederick softball: The Golden Eagles went into Air Academy and won the regional championship, beating Durango and the host Kadets. They’ll be 4A's No. 6 seed at this weekend’s state tournament. Holy Family football: The Tigers (6-1) pitched a shutout for a second consecutive week, beating Kennedy 42-0 on Saturday. Iker Alfaro led the way offensively, rushing for 103 yards and two scores. Legacy girls volleyball: The Lightning (16-3, 10-0) are a win away from clinching the 5A/4A Granite Peaks League after beating Longmont and Horizon last week. They are ranked ninth in CHSAA’s 5A standings. Longmont boys soccer: After starting off play in the 4A/3A Granite Peaks League 0-2-1, the CHSAA 4A No. 20 Trojans (8-3-2, 2-2-1) beat No. 33 Mead and No. 6 Centaurus last week. Mead girls volleyball: The Mavericks (11-5) moved to eighth in CHSAA’s 4A standings after sweeping Frederick and Fairview last week. Monarch football: The Coyotes (6-2, 3-0) outscored Greeley West 34-0 in the opening quarter and beat the Spartans 48-8 on Friday. They host Frederick (6-2, 3-0) on Thursday in what will decide the 4A North 1 League champ. Peak to Peak boys tennis: The Pumas finished runner-up in the top-two singles positions at the 4A individual state tournament in Pueblo this past weekend. Ace Vivaan Bhardwaj and Shreyas Sundaresan also helped lead Peak to Peak to the 4A semifinals in the team dual postseason. Silver Creek boys soccer: The CHSAA 4A No. 2 Raptors (10-1-1, 5-0) continued their dominance over the 4A/3A Granite Peaks League, where they shut out their fifth straight league opponent after beating Frederick, 3-0, Skyline, 4-0, and Holy Family, 3-0, last week. 10 athletes Troy Brown, Jefferson Academy boys soccer: The senior scored twice in the CHSAA 3A No. 2 Jaguars’ 2-1 win over No. 7 Kent Denver on Thursday. His 25 goals this season are third-most in the state. His 56 points are second. Noah Chapala, Mead football: The junior rushed for a career-high 212 yards and scored twice in the Mavericks’ 58-0 win over Greeley Junction Central on Saturday. Kashus Clarvoe, Broomfield football: The freshman needed just 12 carries to rack up 265 yards and three scores in the Eagles’ 56-20 win over Grand Junction Central on Friday. Clarvoe has rushed for more than 200 yards three different times this fall. His 1,231 yards on the season are fourth-most in the state. Paying in Kash: Broomfield freshman RB Kashus Clarvoe dazzles in opening-night win over Frederick Sonny Delpizzo, Frederick football: The senior ran for 172 yards, had 89 receiving yards and scored four times in the Golden Eagles’ 36-28 comeback win over Poudre on Friday. The senior is ranked 14th in the state in rushing yards (951) and eighth in receiving (686). Fairview, Broomfield, Monarch, Frederick all take step closer to league titles Sophee Horovitz, Erie softball: The junior came into the first game at regional with the Tigers down 5-4 and pitched four shutout innings as they rallied for a 6-5, walk-off victory. She then tossed a two-hitter in a three-inning, 16-0 win over Pueblo West in the championship game. Emmaline Humphreys, Holy Family softball: The senior struck out 15 in a six-inning, 12-0 no-hitter against Ponderosa in the Tigers’ regional championship game. They’ll be the third seed at the 4A state tournament. Drew Kraft, Peak to Peak boys soccer: The senior goalkeeper stopped five shots, recording his seventh shutout of the season in CHSAA 3A No. 4 Peak to Peak’s 1-0 win over No. 6 Eagle Ridge Academy on Thursday. The Pumas (6-1-5) have allowed just three goals in 12 games this season. Servando Morales, Skyline football: Skyline’s quarterback totaled eight TDs in a 55-33 win over Longmont as he both threw and rushed for four scores. Skyline football, behind a sterling Servando Morales, thumps Longmont Peyton Studebaker, Legacy football: The senior had a TD reception and took a kickoff back for a score in the Lightning’s 28-13 win over Rangeview on Friday.
