From data to discovery: How Sarthhak AI is powering scientific research with AI

Despite producing vast amounts of data, scientific laboratories are yet to discover the full potential of AI in research and innovation. Founded in July 2024 by mother-son duo Trapti Kalra and Satvik Kalra, Gurugram-based Sarthhak AI aims to address this by bringing artificial intelligence and automation into the heart of scientific research and development. While working as a biochemist at University College London, Satvik noticed that even top labs still used old, manual methods instead of AI to manage and analyse data. His mother and co-founder, Trapti, who spent over 20 years in IT and led AI projects at IBM, saw the same problem in factories and research labs: data was stuck in silos, there was repetitive work and little use of AI for innovation. From idea to product An idea that began in mid-2023 turned into Sarthhak AI by July 2024. A small team of five worked for months to design, test, and improve the SaaS platform. By September, the company began pilot deployments. The solution: GoodScientific and beyond Sarthhak AI’s flagship product, GoodScientific, is a cloud-based SaaS platform designed to digitise, analyse, and optimise R&D workflows for both enterprises and individual researchers. Available via the web, it allows users to manage experiments, record results, visualise data, and leverage AI-driven insights to accelerate innovation. The company offers three subscription tiers: Individual, Team, and Enterprise. The enterprise plan is live for large organisations that pay monthly or yearly fees based on users and features. The individual and team plans are set to be launched in December this year, following ISO and GDPR certifications. Currently, the company has one live enterprise client, the Indian Institute of Packaging, Delhi, where it has developed a fully digitised laboratory connected to the GoodScientific platform. Two more clients—a speciality chemicals manufacturer and a consumer products company—are in pilot stages. Sarthhak AI’s B2B revenue model is subscription-based; recent monthly revenues touched Rs 15 lakh. The B2C model will follow an affordable SaaS pricing once public launch begins. AI at work All the technology at Sarthhak AI is built in-house. Both founders have advanced degrees in AI and data science and have created their own algorithms for prediction, optimisation, and design. The platform helps companies do tasks such as analysing data, improving processes, and even creating new materials or product formulae. “Our platform doesn’t just automate data collection, it becomes a thinking partner for scientists,” says Trapti. “It helps research teams manage workflows, make predictions, and even generate new product ideas.” Competition and market According to a report by Precedence Research, the global AI market, which includes AI for scientific research, is estimated to be around $638 billion in 2025. This market is expected to grow rapidly, reaching over $3.6 trillion by 2034, with a compound annual growth rate of 19.2%. Sarthhak AI works in the growing field of AI for science, competing with companies such as Sciengine Informatics, LabGuru, and SciNote. Satvik claims that, unlike competitors, Sarthhak AI offers a complete platform that combines AI, automation, and scientific intelligence for R&D teams. Future plans Sarthhak AI plans to expand aggressively in 2026, focusing on enterprise partnerships in India and Southeast Asia while onboarding individual researchers through self-serve subscriptions. It also intends to participate in India’s National Research Foundation programmes to co-develop AI models for science and engineering. The company is developing a second product, Epistem Labs, which will host foundational AI models for scientific research. The product will be launched in early 2026 and will offer both free and paid AI models for research. The startup’s five-year goal is to capture around $50 million in annual revenue. Sarthhak AI is part of YourStory’s Tech30 cohort—a selection of India’s most promising startups of 2025—unveiled at TechSparks Bengaluru.
