A Reddit post has gone viral after a man shared how Gurgaon transformed his life. He moved from his village with little schooling and broken English, but a fascination with computers set him on a path few could have predicted. “I collected old computer books from classes 6–12, taught myself C++, and just kept experimenting,” he wrote.
Despite struggling academically, he enrolled in DU SOL for a B.Com degree. In 2019, he shifted to Gurgaon, renting a tiny 10×10 room for ₹4,000 a month. The initial days were rough.
Breaking into the job market proved brutal. “I applied to 100s of jobs on LinkedIn and got just one call. That company offered me ₹12,000 per month. I was the only digital marketing person there – SEO, websites, ads, everything,” he recalled. The job tested him but also taught him the ropes.

He tried launching his own business early on, but it lasted just three months. Then came COVID-19. He had to change jobs multiple times, take personal loans, and even deal with harassment from lenders. Each hurdle seemed like it could stop him, but he kept moving.
Persistence paid off in April 2024. A friend asked him to join his agency after leaving a competitor. Together, they started closing sales. “Today, the company has a team of 25 people. From a 10×10 rented room to here, it’s been a crazy ride,” he said. Reflecting on his journey, he added, “Maybe I wrote this because someone out there is struggling like I did. If that’s you, just keep going. Breakthroughs feel impossible until they happen.”
He credits the city for shaping his career. “Many of my clients are from Gurgaon, and I’ve received a lot of support. I still remember seeing pictures of DLF Cyber City on my phone back in my village and that’s when I decided I wanted to stay here. Someone once told me, it’s not you who chooses the city, it’s the city that chooses you.” His post concluded with a reminder: “Struggles don’t last forever. The lessons do.”
Readers flooded the post with encouragement. One wrote, “You have given enough in the form of taxes, don’t be guilty.” Another commented, “Congrats. Very inspirational,” while others said, “Happy for you, god bless you,” and “That’s why I love this city too.”
