Former British Labour Party MP Jeremy Corbyn says that it is important to raise the voice of the people of Palestine, as the conflict deepens. He was speaking at a gathering in Polokwane, in Limpopo, to discuss a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian war.
This comes as Israel continues its bombardment of Gaza City, with most hospitals shut down in the enclave and aid blocked.
Corbyn has commended the recent recognition of Palestine by Britain and other European powers, saying that freeing Palestine is more than about political debate.
“It’s important in any struggle, to remember that it is more than just the political arguments- it is about the cultural message, it is about the power of song, the power of music, the power of poetry- and also to recognise the Palestinian people have a history, have a past, have a future- have a culture, have fantastic art, and fantastic poetry that we also have to keep alive.”
