Free adult resource fair bringing 20+ agencies to Summerville area

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) – Dorchester County residents and visitors can access a wide range of support services and educational resources Friday thanks to a fair happening in Summerville.
The resource fair runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 115 Devon Road in Summerville which is behind Knightsville Elementary School. Vendors will include the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce, the county sheriff’s office, EMS as well as the alcohol and drug commission.
Wramie Spafford, the director of Dorchester County Adult Education, said one of the primary goals is to inform the community about available resources they may not have known existed.
“I think there’s a great need to know what resources and to allocate those resources for the betterment of our community,” Spafford said. “I think that when people are going through hard times, whatever that may be, I think it’s nice to know, ‘I can call this, there’s a contact and there’s somebody out there that can assist with me with whatever my or my family needs at that time.’”
The event is open to everyone, not just those from Dorchester County. Organizers aim to provide easy access to local support systems and foster a sense of community among attendees.
Tents will be set up throughout the Adult Education facility grounds, creating a one-stop location for residents seeking various forms of assistance and information about county services.
