Jake Paul is on the hunt for a new opponent to fight in 2025 after his bout against reigning WBA lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis, which was scheduled to take place next weekend, was cancelled. The two superstars were scheduled to face off in a blockbuster event streamed live on Netflix on Friday, the 14th of November, but the entire event has been pulled following accusations of domestic violence towards Davis, which arose last week. Although the event has been pulled, in a statement released by Nakisa Bidarian, who is the CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, it was confirmed that the plan is still for Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. Ever since the talk of the bout between Paul and Davis potentially being cancelled began over the weekend, plenty of rumours have been circulating online about who could realistically step in and face The Problem Child before the year ends. Terence Crawford, Andre Ward, and Nate Diaz, who Paul has already fought before, have all been mentioned as parties who may have been approached to face off against the social media sensation. However, one fighter we know who has been approached for sure is former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Francis Ngannou on Replacing Gervonta Davis in Jake Paul Fight During an interview with TMZ Sports, Ngannou revealed he was contacted by Paul's team, but was both "confused" and felt "insulted" when he realised they wanted him in as a replacement opponent. Even after being presented with financial details which no doubt would've been very enticing for any fighter on the planet, The Predator stayed firm on his stance, stating: "It's not about the number." “How can they go from Gervonta Davis to Francis Ngannou? It makes no sense. I was so confused. I’m like, no bro, c’mon. Don’t disrespect me like that. I’m not interested.” Jake Paul Responds to Francis Ngannou As expected, Jake Paul has already responded to Ngannou's comments. The Problem Child took to X earlier today to call the former UFC heavyweight champion "scared" and claimed he would be "light work." Paul's message to Ngannou was more than likely an attempt to get under his skin and goad him into taking the fight, but going by the Cameroonian's comments, he is not even remotely interested.
