Fox reportedly fired former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez one month after he was involved in a near-fatal fight. TMZ first reported the termination Nov. 7. Sanchez was under scrutiny after authorities said he was involved in a fight while in Indianapolis to call an NFL game for FOX. The outlet reported that a Fox Sports spokesperson confirmed the quarterback-turned-broadcaster was officially handed his pink slip. “We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time,” the rep said, according to TMZ. Sanchez allegedly attacked a 69-year-old delivery driver while in the city for commentating duties. The man then allegedly stabbed Sanchez in self-defense, nearly killing him, according to TMZ. Police arrested Sanchez hours after the violent exchange, while he was still in his hospital bed, lying critically wounded with at least one stab wound to his upper torso, according to TMZ. The former athlete faces four charges, including one count of felony battery, in addition to three misdemeanors. If convicted, he is eligible for several years in prison. Sanchez is also being sued by the alleged victim, Perry Tole, in addition to the criminal charges. The former Jets quarterback is still recovering from his injuries as of Nov. 7.
