You’ll always find Drake repping for his native city. The Canadian artist was, unsurprisingly, “World Series bound” this season. The Toronto-born rapper, known for his history of losing high-profile bets, couldn’t resist tempting fate again earlier this week. After the Blue Jays’ Game 5 win on Wednesday night, he acted like it was all wrapped up. He teased that his Toronto squad is right on the brink of ending Ohtani and the Dodgers’ run. Apparently, that didn’t age well. After the Dodgers took home the World Series ring for the second straight season, FOX Sports couldn’t resist trolling Drake on X. And let’s just say it’s blowing up! So, the image features Los Angeles’ very own Kendrick Lamar alongside the World Series trophy. Fox Sports used “THEY NOT LIKE US” as a reference to Kendrick’s hit track aimed at Drake, celebrating the Dodgers’ victory. If FOX Sports’ image could speak, it’d say, “Just like in rap, L.A. wins here too, both on the mic and on the field.” To be fair, Drake started it all. On his Instagram, he took a jab at Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani a few days ago. He shared a picture of Ohtani and captioned it, “ONE MORE WIN!” He doubled down on that story with another picture of Ohtani swinging and missing at a pitch from Trey Yesavage. He captioned it, “Savage already on the way to the dugout, boss lol.” After his jab towards Shohei Ohtani, Drake showed up at Rogers Centre on Friday night. While he hoped to see his Blue Jays finally end their 32-year championship drought, things didn’t go as planned. Eventually, the Blue Jays fell 4-5 short to the Dodgers in decisive game 7. That led Blue Jays fans to turn on Drake, quipping, “Now I see why we lost.” Read Top Stories First From EssentiallySports Click here and check box next to EssentiallySports The Blue Jays fans felt it more when Yamamoto silenced their club in the bottom of the 10th inning. When Toronto turned to starter Shane Bieber in the 11th inning, things unraveled even more. Bieber retired the first two batters but then left a hanging slider right over the plate. Smith didn’t miss, and with one powerful swing, he sent the ball soaring and etched his name into October history. Takeaways from Dodgers-Blue Jays’ thrilling Fall Classic clash Every game in the 2025 World Series delivered its share of drama. From the Dodgers’ record-breaking 18-inning win in Game 3 to Trey Yesavage’s incredible Game 5 start and, of course, to the absolute chaos of ‘wedgie ball’ in Game 6. And now, after game 7, we’ve found our favorite entering the 2026 campaign. Just when it felt like Yoshinobu Yamamoto had already done it all, he found another gear and etched his name into Dodgers history. Only less than 24 hours after throwing six innings of one-run ball to save the Dodgers’ season in Game 6, the 27-year-old Japanese sensation returned in Game 7 and shut down the Blue Jays with 2 2/3 scoreless innings. It was the kind of gutsy, unforgettable performance we aren’t forgetting anytime soon. As far as the Blue Jays are concerned, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is locked in with Toronto for the long haul. He’s the face of the franchise for the next decade and even more. He signed a record-breaking $500 million extension at the start of the season. Since then, the Jays captured the division title, took down the Yankees in the ALDS, and outlasted Seattle in a classic ALCS. But their dream run ended just shy of a World Series crown. It was Bo Bichette’s dream to win the title alongside Vladdy, but unfortunately, things didn’t go that way. With Bo Bichette nearing free agency, George Springer aging, and the AL East only getting tougher, it’s only fair to question if the 2025 season was the Blue Jays’ best shot to bring the trophy home.
