FOX Abruptly Cuts Terry Bradshaw on NFL Sunday After He Cleared Stance on Tom Brady Controversy

“Oh, we have to go to break?” This reaction came from Terry Bradshaw when he was cut in the middle of a story. This week’s pre-game show by FOX NFL Sunday made quite the headlines, but all of the football-unrelated topics. Of course, the 77-year-old veteran analyst wanted to make the top story, but for his expert football insights, not for having his commentary cut off.
Bradshaw was recently joined by former Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Charles Woodson on FOX’s Sunday pre-game. Drew Brees was listing his personal picks for the Mount Rushmore of quarterbacks. He only got to three names: Joe Montana, Tom Brady, and Doug Flutie, before Bradshaw chimed up with an interesting story about the latter QB. Bradshaw had barely started telling the story when Charissa Thompson interrupted him.
They needed to take a short commercial break. Without hesitation, Bradshaw responded, “Oh, we have to go to break? I never get to… I finally get to talk football, and you go to break.” But Brees and Woodson didn’t let the situation heat up as they responded to the four-time Super Bowl champion’s comment with laughter. The timing of this incident came shortly after Bradshaw was asked about Brady’s controversy. Like always, he made his stance clear.

Let’s talk about the controversy first. Last week, Brady was seen in the Raiders’ coaching booth during a game, wearing a headset. This sparked questions about whether he was helping coach the team during the game. Fans got even more interested when they found out that the ex-QB has been meeting with the Raiders’ OC, Chip Kelly, to talk about game plans. When the Hall of Famer was asked by TMZ whether Brady’s dual roles may be conflicting, he dismissed the idea. “It is, I suppose, different from anything we’ve ever seen,” he admitted before adding, “I don’t have a problem with it.”
The controversy intensified when former Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said it would be ‘foolish’ not to think that Brady isn’t sharing information. “It’s not hard for him to watch a few plays on a Friday practice or hear things in a production meeting and think, ‘Hmm,’ and have tidbits. And it would be foolish to think that he’s not going to share that with the Raiders,” he asserted. Pierce’s remarks may be overlooked, thinking he’s holding a grudge against the clubhouse. But Brady’s involvement with the team has only gotten intense with Pierce’s firing.

Terry Bradshaw’s days on FOX may be numbered
FOX didn’t give an explanation for cutting Bradshaw in the middle of his commentary, but the Hall of Famers know that he is approaching the tail end of his broadcasting journey. The journey began in 1994, when he joined FOX NFL Sunday. But times have changed, and the 77-year-old had the realisation long ago. In an exclusive conversation with Mirror US Sports, he opened up about how long he sees himself in the FOX broadcasting booth.
“I told my wife before I left the room a while ago, I’m sitting there… I said, ‘I’ve got two years left at FOX’,” he told Mirror US Sports. “I’m 76. Okay, so it’s a young man’s game. I get that.’ Everybody wants the new. And so I said, ‘If we can get to the next Super Bowl, I’ll be 80. That’s… I think that’s time. 80 years old, that’s pushing it! I knew exactly what I wanted for the FOX Sports pregame show.”

If it were in his control, he would want to stay beyond his current contract expiration. He wants to bid goodbye after covering Super Bowl 2029. His retirement from broadcasting may mark the end of an era, but he has plenty of other ventures to devote his energy and attention to. He recently had a cookbook launch, titled ‘The Bradshaw Family Cookbook: Our Favorite Recipes for Game Days, Weekdays, and Any Day.’ So it’s certainly exciting to see what chapter unfolds in his life next.
