Fourstar big man Sinan Huan details Purdue commitment and development plan

Sinan Huan, the No. 81 overall recruit in the 2026 class, has committed to Purdue, he told 247Sports. The seven-footer out of Rockville (MD) Georgetown Preparatory picked the Boilermakers over Ohio State and Illinois. "First, I want to thank all the schools that have recruited me," Huan told 247Sports. "They're all elite programs, and it was definitely a very tough decision to make." RELATED: Scouting Sinan Huan and his fit at Purdue Why did Huan pick Purdue? "What stood out to me about Purdue was the sincerity and consistency from Coach Painter and Coach PJ [Thompson] throughout the entire process. They showed up to my games and workouts multiple times, both before and after my official visit, which really meant a lot. I also had very direct and honest basketball conversations with Coach Painter — he gave me detailed feedback on my game and specific ideas for how I can improve." Painter has undoubtedly had tremendous success with big men over the years. Painter and Purdue's development, system, and culture all played a big role in Huan's decision. "Purdue's track record with developing big men also played a big role in my decision," Huan explained. "Their system has produced many successful big men with different body types and skill sets, and during my visit I got to see how structured and intentional their player development drills are." Huan is Purdue's fourth commitment in the class of 2026, which now ranks as a Top 5 recruiting class in the country. "My vision for myself is to spend two, or maybe three years in college developing and getting fully adjusted to the NCAA level," said Huan. "Purdue's staff understands that and shares a similar vision. They've had multiple successful examples of helping players grow through that kind of long-term development process." "Purdue also has an impressive roster retention rate, which allows me to have some time and structure to develop without feeling rushed in my first year," he continued. "The coaches also showed me how I could fit into their system — especially how I could play alongside other bigs. I see myself as a more mobile big, and they presented some interesting ideas for how my skill set could complement the other elite front-court players already on the roster." Huan has great size in the front court and is also highly mobile with the ability to run the floor and protect the rim, with upside that the Purdue staff can tap into. "As an incoming freshman, my first goal is to catch up with the team concepts and structure, and get my physicality ready for the elite college level.," said Huan. "On the court, I think I will bring defensive intensity and contribute in transition — running the floor, protecting the rim, and becoming a team player."
