Four top Glasgow chefs team up for charity dinner to support hospitality workers in need

Four of Glasgow’s top chefs are coming together this month to host a charity dinner for a Glasgow based hospitality charity. Chef-owner of The Gannet, Peter McKenna; chef-owner of Swadish and Grilled, Ajay Kumar; chef-owner of Elements, Gary Townsend, and Graeme Brown of Glaschu, are hosting the event on Thursday, November 13 for Hospitality Health. Held at Glaschu on Royal Exchange Square, the chefs will collaborate on a four-course menu that will infuse each of their individual styles, with seasonal, Scottish produce at its core. The chefs will take a course each, accompanied with bread by Freedom Bakery and complemented with paired wines from Entoria. The dinner will be followed by a raffle and auction, including prizes such as a Chef’s Table experience at Virgin Edinburgh for 8 guests, and a Clydeside Distillery tour and tasting, with all proceeds going to Hospitality Health. Seasonal canapés and Champagne kindly provided by Perrier-Jouët Sourdough and butter and kindly provided by Freedom Bakery Peter McKenna, The Gannet – Citrus and seaweed - cured halibut, oyster - radish - seaweed Ajay Kumar, Swadish – BBQ Calcutta pork belly – caramelised spiced-pineapple - pickled shallots Gary Townsend, Elements – Scottish venison – yukon gold - beetroot - maitake - blackberries Graeme Brown – Dark chocolate and manuka honey tarte – poached pear - white chocolate - honeycomb - lemon Hospitality Health is a Scottish charity, formed in August 2018 to support staff in the world of hospitality. It is clear that, for several years, the industry has become more stressful for an extremely hard-working workforce. Hospitality Health takes action and helps those who need support, by providing wellbeing advice, Mental Health First Aid Training and signposting organisations that can help. The collaboration dinner will cost £120 per person, with proceeds from each ticket going to Hospitality Health. This includes a Champagne reception at 7pm, before a four course dinner with paired wines. The auction and raffle will begin at 9:30pm, with carriages at 10:30pm. Unfortunately, due to the nature of this event, dietary requirements or allergies cannot be catered for. Chairman of Hospitality Health, Gordon McIntyre MBE, said: “What a brilliant idea by the team at Glaschu, with an incredible line up of talented, award-winning chefs to raise funds for the charity. This is the cream of the crop of Glasgow and I know the dishes they will create will be awe inspiring. For the guests, this is an incredible opportunity to experience four for the best in Glasgow at one sitting! The funds raised will support staff in the industry on Mental Health First Aid courses. We are so grateful to be part of this memorable event in the city.” To secure your table, please visit here.
