Four-star forward Shane Pendergrass commits to George Mason

Shane Pendergrass, a four-star forward in the 2026 class, has committed to George Mason, Rivals is told.
The 6-foot-9 forward out of Chatham (VA) Hargrave Military Academy chose the Patriots overall final group that also included Cal, Louisiana Tech, La Salle, Duquesne, and Boise State.
‘I chose George Mason because of the genuine relationship I built with Coach (Tony) Skinn, Coach (Louis) Hinnant, and the staff over the past few years,” Pendergrass said. “From the start, they made me feel valued and a true part of their program.’
Pendergrass, who is a Lanham, Maryland native, is ranked No. 85 in the Rivals150 and the No. 14 overall power forward in the cycle. He is the No. 6 player in Virignia for this cycle.
Pendergrass on his commitment to George Mason
Shane Pendergrass went a little deeper on his commitment to Tony Skinn and George Mason with Rivals.
“George Mason has a track record of developing versatile players, and they see me as someone who can bring that same impact at the three and four positions, with comparisons to players like Trey Murphy,” Pendergrass said.
‘What really stood out is having a relatable head coach from the DMV who prides himself on winning and defense. Combine that with their winning culture, beautiful facilities, and great staff, and it was the right fit for me.’
In Shane Pendergrass’ words
“I use my length to my advantage and try to get downhill,” Pendergrass told Rivals. “I can step out and high jump shots, and play above the rim. I’ve been working on my motor a lot. And being able to guard one through five. A lot of coaches have been telling me that at the next level, I need to be able to guard the position I want to play. So, I’m able to slide my feet and open up my hips.
‘I’ve been working on my consistency. Having a better shot selection, playing off two feet, and being able to use my pump fakes. People know I can shoot, so they’re going to try and take that three away from me. So I’m just continuing to add other stuff to expand my game.”
