Former WWE Champion Teases Wrestling Again

A celebrated former five-time WWE Women’s Champion has hinted that her time competing in the squared circle may not be over just yet. Mickie James, who was recently honored with an induction into the TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame earlier this month, addressed the possibility of an in-ring return. James's induction into the TNA Hall of Fame took place in October 2025 during the Bound For Glory weekend. In addition to her storied wrestling career, she took on significant backstage responsibilities last year, joining Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) as Creative Director, Head of Female Talent, and Executive Producer. Despite holding these executive positions, James has continued to wrestle periodically on the independent circuit. Her most recent documented match occurred back in July 2025. During a recent appearance on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, James was asked directly if she felt she had another match left in her. Her response was enthusiastic and definitive. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match “Hell, yeah! I could do 10 more," James exclaimed. However, she quickly balanced this enthusiasm with contentment regarding her already accomplished career. "But it’s also with the career that I’ve been so blessed to have, and the moments that I’ve been able to have and the people that I’ve been able to work with, I could retire tomorrow and be a happy woman.” James elaborated that while she feels she has nothing left to prove, her passion for the business remains strong. “I don’t have anything else, I think, to prove in the wrestling business, but I also love it, and there’s nothing like it.” She compared the unique feeling of wrestling to her experiences in acting and music. “I’ve been able to act in films. I’ve been able to do music and perform on stages and alongside mega names and stuff like that, which is also incredible. But there’s nothing like performing in front of a live wrestling audience, especially when they’re so invested in your story, in that story, because it’s the emotion, that’s what we live for. That’s the art of this dance that we do.” Beyond her roles in TNA and OVW, James also maintained a connection with WWE recently, serving as a coach for the first season of the reality competition series WWE LFG. It was previously revealed that WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H personally pitched for her to join the show. While James balances her executive duties at OVW, the promotion is preparing for upcoming events, including television tapings. Her potential return to the ring could feasibly occur in OVW, TNA, or even potentially WWE, given her recent involvement with LFG.
