With John Cena set to retire, many people are contemplating who his opponent should be in his final match. A massive tournament will determine who the WWE star faces, with several first-round matches announced on Raw featuring a few opponents Cena has already faced, and several he has yet to face individually. Sheamus will battle Shinsuke Nakamura in one of the Raw matches, while Damian Priest takes on Rusev in the other. The winners of those matches move on to the second round of the tournament. Additional matches will be announced for Raw and NXT. While many fans seem to favor the tournament already, there are early rumors that Cena’s final opponent could be GUNTHER, a newer star within WWE who has already held several championships, including the World Heavyweight Championship twice. That said, there are other stars Cena has yet to face, and one who has yet to capture that major championship GUNTHER previously held. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images) Former WWF and WWF Hardcore Champion Maven Huffman rose to fame within WWE after winning Tough Enough. He infamously had some key moments involving The Undertaker, in addition to holding that now-defunct Hardcore championship belt. While appearing on TMZ’s Inside the Ropes, Maven shared his thoughts about who Cena’s final opponent should be. He said there was one individual who impressed him from what he’d seen in various highlights and videos. “It’s going to have to be someone that they’re trying to push moving forward. Someone that they see to carry the ball for the next 10 years. Someone that needs the push,” he said. “I could not be more, just impressed with Bron [Breakker],” Maven said, adding, “If you were in the lab making a wrestler, you’d make him.” He added that what sold him about Bron was seeing him in a suit for an ESPN SportsCenter interview, and he was “well spoken” and could “represent the company well,” similar to how Cena was away from WWE. “He comes off just making the company look great. I think just because, selfishly, I’m such a fan of his, I’d like to see maybe him,” Maven said. Breakker, real name Bronson Rechsteiner, is the son of Rick Steiner and nephew of Scott Steiner, giving him that wrestling lineage. He’s previously held the WWE Intercontinental Championship twice, along with the NXT Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship. As of this writing, there are 12 opponents left for Cena’s “The Last Time is Now Tournament” to determine who his opponent will be at “Saturday Night’s Main Event” on Dec. 13. Breakker certainly makes an excellent choice, but one has to wonder if WWE is planning something else with him after he seemingly put Punk on notice for the World Heavyweight Championship.
