Former Steelers QB Makes Major Move Amid College Football Coaching Rumors

Former NFL star players are taking over the college coaching space and a former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback could be next. Hall of Famer Deion Sanders got the party started when he found immediate success at Jackson State before eventually taking over as the head coach at Colorado. Former NFL star running back Eddie George followed suit, landing a job at Tennessee State before taking over the Bowling Green head coaching job. But that's not all. Former NFL star wide receiver DeSean Jackson and quarterback Michael Vick are the current head coaches at Delaware State and Norfolk State, respectively - and recently played each other in a 27-20 win for Delaware State. According to a report from NFL insider Josina Anderson, former Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart wants to toss his hat in the ring. Stewart hired Young Money APAA Sports as his representation as he attempts to land a college football head coaching job. "Sources say there’s interest in the open Colorado State job, & that Stewart has already assembled a veteran staff of prominent NCAA & NFL coaches," Anderson reported. On Oct. 19, Colorado State announced it fired head coach Jay Novell. "Jay is a leader of the highest character who cares deeply about developing his players as athletes, students, and young men," Athletic Director John Weber said in a statement at the time. "...However, as we prepare to join the Pac-12 Conference next year, we need to position our program to compete at the highest level. While we've seen progress, a change in leadership is necessary to achieve the sustained excellence our program requires. We are continuing to invest and work hard to ensure that the football program and the next head coach have the resources needed to capitalize on this historic opportunity." Stewart is currently the voluntary offensive coordinator at South Forsyth High School in Georgia.
