Former Red Sox star Fred Lynn, who became the first player to be named Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in the same season in 1975, joined host Ben Volin on this week’s edition of Boston Globe Sports Report, the Globe’s new weekly sports show. Lynn, who will be honored at The Tradition sports awards program at TD Garden on Nov. 18, chatted about the 2025 Red Sox and their young star outfielder, Roman Anthony, who happens to wear the same No. 19 Lynn did while playing for Boston. Lynn, a center fielder, played 17 MLB seasons, including from 1974 to 1980 in Boston. Other sports figures to be honored at The Tradition this year are former Bruins goalie Tim Thomas, Olympic runner Gabby Thomas, former Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas, PGA Tour player Keegan Bradley, and former Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork. Tickets and information are available on The Tradition website. Advertisement Watch the interview with Lynn in the video player at the top of this article.
