Sean Bailey, former President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production and longtime head of global film production for Disney, has founded a new production company, B5 Studios. Sean Baily will serve as CEO to a team of executives that includes Jeff Silver as Head of Production and Justin Springer as Head of Creative. According to Deadline, B5 will make content for TV, film, and emerging formats. The studio is backed by RedBird Capital Partners. In a statement from Sean Bailey: “B5 is poised to take advantage of a major market opportunity, giving great artists a new set of tools and opportunities to share their stories with audiences. We are already collaborating with some of the industry’s best creatives, equipping them with the innovative technologies and business models of a future-facing studio. The deep experience of our executives and advisors will be invaluable as we not only create excellent films and television series, but also trailblaze new entertainment formats that open doors for storytellers. We have a fantastic slate of artist-driven partnerships and projects in the works, and we can’t wait to share them with audiences around the world” Baily served for 14 years as President of Disney Worldwide Production. Some of the projects he worked on were billion-dollar releases, including The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
