Former Transportation Secretary , who served under the Biden administration, is the Democratic presidential front runner for 2028, topping California Gov. Gavin Newsom and others in a of New Hampshire voters. The highest elected position held by Buttigieg was mayor of South Bend, Indiana — a town of roughly 103,000. But even with his short resume, he leads all Democratic presidential contenders with 19% of voters' support. He also possesses the highest favorability rating with 81% of people in favor of him and 6% of voters with a negative view of him. Newsom trails Buttigieg by 4%, garnering just 15% of voters supporters. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) received 14% of voters' support and former who has previously hinted that she is not done in politics, received 11% of voters' support. In August, betting website Polymarket placed actor Dwayne the Rock Johnson at having a higher odds of winning the 2028 presidential race over Harris. Johnson had a 5.6% chance of winning the race; whereas Harris possessed just a 5% chance of winning. Other potential Democratic contenders included in the poll was Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. They received 8% and 6% of voters' support respectively. Even though the 2028 election is still well over three years away, the New Hampshire poll is significant because New Hampshire is the first state to hold both the Democratic and Republican primary elections. The results of the beginning primaries will often determine which candidates ultimately decide to stay in the race.
