Arkheron, the upcoming PvP multiplayer game from former Blizzard CCO Rob Pardo’s new team at Bonfire Studios, has received its first trailer, gameplay overview, and even details on when players can try the game for themselves. Here’s a hint, it’s sooner than you think.
Planned for a full release in 2026, Arkheron is a multiplayer game where 15 teams of three battle to climb a tower that was built from fragments of their past lives.
“In Arkheron, items are the heroes – each one imbued with powerful abilities that shape how you fight, adapt, and outplay other teams,” Bonfire says. “Players will build their strategy and playstyle on the fly by looting and combining items in real time, creating unique build-outs throughout every match”
Arkheron Gameplay
In addition to the reveal trailer, Bonfire gave an overview into the gameplay mechanics of Arkheron. The game requires your team to work together by collecting items, combine abilities, and fight the other teams trying to ascend to the top of the tower.
Bonfire says that button mashing won’t find you success and that you’ll have to utilize “strategic moment-to-moment gameplay”. Each match will let players create unique builds to help make every game feel fresh. To progress to the next floor of the tower, you’ll need to have control of a main beacon, uncontested, for 30 seconds.
You can check out everything you need to know about the gameplay in the overview video below.
Arkheron Alpha Playtest
As mentioned above, players will be able to try Arkheron sooner that they think. Bonfire announced that from September 19-21, players can get access to an alpha version of the game exclusively on PC. All you have to do is request access via Steam.
The playtest will run for 12 hours per day from 2pm-2am EST on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
