Subscribe now Santa Margarita had a defensive and a special teams touchdown in its 28-7 win over Orange Lutheran in a Trinity League game Friday at Trabuco Hills High. The Eagles are ranked No. 2 in the county Top 25 poll and Orange Lutheran is No. 4. Dash Fifita returned a fumble 36 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and Ryan Carpenter returned a blocked punt 27 yards for a touchdown. The punt was blocked by Siua Holani who also had a team-high 11 tackles. Trent Mosley had two rushing touchdowns for Santa Margarita (6-3, 3-1) and had 100 yards receiving. Trace Johnson completed 12 of 16 passes for 110 yards. Simote Katoanga and Leki Holani each had three tackles for a loss and Jayden Crowder had an interception. Ezrah Brown threw a touchdown pass to Raiden Velasquez for Orange Lutheran (2-7, 1-3) and Anthony McClure had a sack. In other games Friday: In the Trinity League: Mater Dei 40, JSerra 7: Justin Lewis had three rushing touchdowns for Mater Dei in a home win over JSerra. Freshman Asir Nembhard also had a touchdown run for Mater Dei (5-2, 3-1). Nathan Enriquez and Jerry Shifman made field goals for the Monarchs. Zacarias Nickerson returned a fumble for a touchdown for JSerra (3-6, 0-4). In the Bravo League: Corona del Mar 47, Tesoro 8: Brady Annett threw for 318 yards with seven touchdowns for Corona del Mar in a rout of Tesoro. Garrett James caught five passes for 177 yards with four touchdowns for Corona del Mar (9-0, 4-0). Dorsett Stecker had 85 yards receiving with two touchdowns and JJ Haley had a touchdown catch. Cash Pearsall had 11 tackles with a sack and Henry Birchard had an interception. Selasi Degbor had a touchdown run for Tesoro (3-6, 1-3) and Nic Brubaker ran for 108 yards. San Juan Hills 28, Villa Park 10: Timmy Herr threw for 203 yards with three touchdowns for San Juan Hills in a home win. Luke Frith caught four passes for 103 yards with two touchdowns for San Juan Hills (7-2, 3-1). Elijah Ayala had a touchdown run for the Stallions. Vince Lagatta had a touchdown run for Villa Park (4-5, 1-3). Yorba Linda 41, Newport Harbor 14: Isaiah Trujillo had two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown for Yorba Linda. Colin O’Connor threw the touchdown pass to Trujillo and Noah Trujillo threw a touchdown pass to Caleb Zamora. Aiden Gutierrez and Gavin Smith had touchdown runs for Yorba Linda (7-2, 3-1). In the Kappa League: Esperanza 27, Westminster 21: Eddie Matthews returned an interception for a touchdown and had a touchdown reception for Esperanza. Travis Frazier threw two touchdown passes for Esperanza (4-5, 2-2). Davian Franco had a touchdown catch and returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown. In the Tango League: Loara 28, Santiago 27: Loara stopped a go-ahead 2-point conversion attempt by Santiago in the final three minutes of the game. Santiago Caudillo had two rushing touchdowns for Loara (3-6, 2-2) and Ariel Olvera added a rushing touchdown. Aiden Gomez threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Jorge Rodriguez. Rodriguez made the tackle on the failed 2-point attempt by Santiago to preserve the lead. Michael Hoang had two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown for Santiago (3-6, 2-2). Chris Godoy threw an 81-yard touchdown pass to Hoang and an 82-yard touchdown pass to Richie Alvarez. In the Zeta League: Saddleback 42, Century 6: Andrik Valenzuela had two receiving touchdowns and an interception return for a touchdown for Saddleback. Andre Scott threw two touchdown passes and Chris Romero returned a punt for a touchdown. Fabian Bravo and JD Zuniga had rushing touchdowns for Saddleback (7-2, 3-0). In the Delta League Trabuco Hills 28, Cypress 7: Landon Pompey rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, ran for a two-point conversion and caught two touchdown passes as the Mustangs got their first league win. The Mustangs are 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the six-team Delta League. They play Western (5-4, 1-3) on Friday at Trabuco Hills. Zale completed 22 of 36 attempts for 172 yards and the two touchdown passes to Pompey. Cypress is 3-6 overall and 0-4 in league. In the Iota League Canyon 14, Sonora 10: Brandon Tristan got his first start at quarterback this season and threw touchdown passes to Matthew Horton and Noah McClary. Tristan started in place of Orange County leading passer Alexander Lundsberg who was injured. James Munro and Landon Wade led the Canyon defense. Canyon is 3-6 overall and 1-3 in league. Sonora is 1-8 overall, 1-3 in league. In the Epsilon League Foothill 31, El Dorado 13: Jake Lind completed 17 of 22 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns for the Knights. Aidan Faraj rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Jake Podel rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Foothill is 3-6 overall and 2-2 in league. El Dorado fell to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in league. In the Omicron League Pacifica 45, Katella 0: Kole Chapman and Gabe Frias returned interceptions for touchdowns as the high-scoring Mariners improved to 4-0 in league to set up a league championship game next week against Portola, also 4-0 in league. Eli Sandoval had one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown for Pacifica. Chapman had 13 tackles and Tyler Alvarado had 10 tackles. Pacifica is averaging 48 points a game in league. The Mariners’ average margin of victory in the league is 41 points. Pacifica plays Portola on Thursday at Portola High. Both teams are 6-3 overall. Katella is 3-6 overall and 0-4 in league. Woodbridge 37, University 36: Kayjahn Pitts scored on a two-point conversion run in the second overtime to give the Warriors the win over their city rival. Pitts rushed for 186 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. Woodbridge is 2-7 overall and in third place in the league with a 2-2 league record. University is 3-6 overall, 1-3 in league. In the Sigma League Calvary Chapel 42, Rancho Alamitos 3: Colin Wiles threw three touchdown passes and Waldo Castrejon rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on nine carries as the Eagles remained undefeated. Calvary Chapel is 9-0, one of only four undefeated football teams in Orange County. The other three are Corona del Mar, Crean Lutheran and Laguna Beach. The Eagles, 4-0 in league, play Los Amigos (5-4, 2-2) on Thursday at Garden Grove High. Rancho Alamitos is 5-4 overall and 2-2 in league. The Vaqueros are tied with Los Amigos for third place.
