As anticipated, the final round of preliminary matches in the National Bank Primary Schools Football Tournament delivered plenty of excitement on Tuesday, October 28, at ET Willet Park. Except for Joycelyn Liburd Primary School, it was a must-win situation for the other leading teams battling for a spot in the semifinals. The feature match of the day saw Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School facing Ivor Walters Primary School, with the winner set to claim the final semifinal spot. The match was played with all the intensity of a grand final, as supporters from both schools cheered passionately from the stands. Midway through the first half, an Elizabeth Pemberton defender handled the ball inside the penalty area, resulting in a spot kick for Ivor Walters. The penalty was confidently converted, giving them the early lead. Early in the second half, Elizabeth Pemberton’s standout player, Ajani Saddler, pounced on a loose ball and fired a powerful left-footed strike into the net to level the score at 1–1.
