Free National Movement (FNM) Leader Michael Pintard confirmed today that the party will contest the upcoming by-election in Golden Isles. Last month, Pintard called on the prime minister to call a general election instead of wasting money on a by-election. During an interview this morning outside the House of Assembly, Pintard said. “The Free National Movement will be contesting the by-election in Golden Isles. “The next member of Parliament for Golden Isles is none other than Brian Brown. "Brian has been in the constituency for more than eight years, and most especially over the last year listening to the cries of the residents when they talk about the broken promises of this administration. “He has not only been in the constituency, he has been working to address real needs that people have had for years. Brian has brought to the forefront the need for infrastructural improvement. “Now that we have a by-election under the most unfortunate of circumstances where we have lost our brother, Brian has stepped forward to say he is ready now to serve in the capacity that he has been serving for years as the member of Parliament for Golden Isles.” Vaughn Miller, the Golden Isles MP, died suddenly last month and his funeral was held at Bahamas Faith Ministries on Friday. Over the weekend, the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) kicked off its campaign to reclaim the Golden Isles seat. The PLP’s candidate, Darron Pickstock, resigned from the Senate yesterday. The by-election is set for November 24. Nomination day is Friday.
