A new smash burger eatery from award-winning Belfast chef and restaurateur Michael Deane is set to open in East Belfast this week. Flink! is the latest in the portfolio of the well-known chef, who is opening his latest venture in Ballyhackamore , alongside his business partner Karl Wilkinson. The new restaurant announced on social media that it is ready to open its doors to the public this Wednesday, October 29, at 4:00 p.m. They posted: "The dark nights have set in but there is light. We are ready to open this Wednesday- looking forward to smashin' those burgers on the hot plate." Flink! is set to operate as a casual dining spot where you can sit in, but also take your Smash burger order to go. Preparations have been ongoing for the past few months at the new location, which occupies the former Squid Shack unit on the Upper Newtownards Road. Speaking previously about the venture, Michael Deane shared: "Myself and Karl Wilkinson will open FLINK in Ballyhackamore on the east side. "A fun smash burger concept serving the best of Irish beef, Deane's own wines, soft serve ice cream, great tunes and so much more". The name of the restaurant takes inspiration from the farming district, with a "flink" being a collective noun for a group of 12 or more cows. While "herd" is the most common term for a group of cattle, "flink" refers specifically to a dozen or more cows.
