Fleur de Lis, an iconic Baton Rouge pizza place that originally opened in 1946, is on track to reopen in spring 2026, according to Sydney Duhe studio manager for Tiek Byday, the restaurant design and architectural firm working on the project. "Things are going well. They are progressing. We are finishing final details on construction drawing," Duhe said. The spot, which previously only took cash and checks, announced it was closing over the Fourth of July weekend in 2022, after 76 years in business. Fleur de Lis, known for their square pizzas, was among Baton Rouge's oldest restaurants. The news caused shock among its loyal fans and created a wave of nostalgia for many, particularly for their Round the World Pizza (anchovy, Italian sausage, mushroom, pepperoni, salami, onions — no free substitutions). "Fleur de Lis has been such a big part of Baton Rouge," Duhe said. "At this time, we are working to hit the deadlines we've set to keep the project on track." The Fleur de Lis pizza building at 5655 Government Street sold in June for $1.1 million to Big Horn River LLC. Carl Batson, with Big Horn River, said the group planned to bring back the landmark Baton Rouge restaurant with "the same funky vibe" and its iconic square-style Roman pizza pie. Fleur de Lis pizza sold for $1.1 million, new owner to bring it back with 'same funky vibe' The longtime Baton Rouge pizza restaurant originally was put up for sale in March 2023 with an asking price of $4.5 million, which included the 1,800 square-foot building, the 1.13 acre lot, the name of the business, equipment, furnishings and the Fleur de Lis recipes. More details are on hold until construction gets moving, according to Duhe.
