The start of the 2025-26 season has been a nightmare for the Calgary Flames. They currently have a 4-9-2 record and are at the very bottom of the NHL standings with just eight points. When noting that the Flames just fell short of making the playoffs last season, they have taken a major step in the wrong direction early on this campaign. Given the way that the Flames have started this season, it would not be surprising if they looked to add to their roster quickly. A major reason for their early-season struggles has been their lack of offense. The Flames have scored just 36 goals this season, which has them in the bottom portion of the NHL. Thus, it would be wise for the Flames to bring in another forward. The Toronto Maple Leafs have an interesting player who the Flames should consider pursuing in forward Nick Robertson. Because of this, Heavy Sports has a new trade pitch that has the Flames acquiring Robertson from the Maple Leafs. Flames Get: Nick Robertson Maple Leafs Get: 2027 Third-Round Pick Flames Have Been Looking for Forward Help Given the Flames’ tough start to the season, bringing in another forward would be a wise decision. During a recent episode of TSN Insider Trading, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reported that the Flames are on the hunt for forward help. “There’s a lot of frustration with the Flames organization about their lack of scoring,” LeBrun said. “Frankly, it’s not a new problem. They were 29th in scoring a year ago, so it’s a problem that continues. GM Craig Conroy isn’t sitting on his hands. He is making calls and exploring the trade market. Trying to find out what exactly is available out there that can potentially help his team offensively. Easier said than done. We are so early in the season. Teams normally aren’t ready to engage in this type of activity yet until U.S. Thanksgiving, but certainly Calgary is trying to get an early look at what’s out there.” While Robertson would not be the flashiest of pickups, he would still give the Flames a new young and skilled forward to work with. The 24-year-old has also shown he can put the puck in the net, as he has set a career-high with 15 goals in 69 games last season. He has also been enjoying a hot streak as of late, recording two goals and five points in his last four games. Robertson Has Been In Rumor Mill Questions about Robertson’s future with the Maple Leafs have come up for quite some time. This is only continuing to be the case early on this season. In his recent 32 Thoughts column, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Maple Leafs are still “investigating options” with Robertson. “Toronto is investigating options for Nick Robertson,” Friedman wrote. “At some point in the summer, they pitched a move for Yegor Chinakhov, but that wasn’t to the Blue Jackets’ liking.” With Robertson continuing to create buzz, the Flames should seriously consider pursuing him. When looking at their current group, Robertson could be a nice addition to their middle six. This is especially so if he taps into his potential more with a change of scenery.
