Five familiar Colorado eateries — from Berliner Haus to Pizza Alley — open in new spaces

Anyone who has hung out at Cerebral Brewing over the past year is familiar with Outside Pizza, a vintage green and white teardrop trailer that serves Neopolitan-style pies (including the cult favorite pickle pizza) to hungry beer drinkers.

But in November, owners Ashley and Ryan Grillaert announced that they would open a permanent location inside Cerebral’s newest taproom, 3257 Lowell Blvd., in a former church off Highland Square.

The Denver Post followed up with a feature on Ashley and other women changing the pizza scene in metro Denver. We even got some video of her spinning dough outside the trailer, which you can see on The Know’s Instagram page here.

Now, after getting its oven cranked up, Outside is finally serving those pies with its expanded menu at Cerebral.

But Outside Pizza isn’t the only familiar face in new digs. Keep reading for more updates.

Berliner Haus

Those who love döner kebabs, a German street food with origins in Turkey, rejoiced last December when Berliner Haus opened a temporary stand inside the Christkindlmarket in Civic Center park, and again when Nikolas Diamantopoulos turned that into a roving food truck in the spring — which The Denver Post reported. While there are many places to get similar gyro-style sandwiches in the metro area, few have the European feel of Berliner Haus. Now those fans have another reason to celebrate: on Sept. 9, Berliner Haus opened inside Avanti Food and Beverage in Denver, joining other new tenants there, like Farang Thai Kitchen and the Pizza Bandit. It serves its sliced meat sandwiches, loaded fries, rice bowls, baklava and other specialties.

Jama Miami Cuban

Enrique Socarras has been a chef in Denver since 2001, when he and his sister opened Cuba Cuba, one of the city’s first Cuban food restaurants. While Socarras is no longer at Cuba Cuba, he has returned to his Miami roots with Jama Miami Cuban Food + Drink, which is now open inside the Freedom Street Social food hall in Arvada. Socarras began by testing his dishes at a delivery-only spot — which The Denver Post reported in June. At the new location, he is serving Cubano sandwiches (in a couple of variations) sweet plantains, croquetas de jajamóncroquettes made with ham, bechamel and lime), and others.

Pizza Alley

It has been nearly two torturous years for fans of Pizza Alley, the 50-year-old spot in Highland Square that closed in December 2023. But the neighborhood restaurant finally reopened this week under new ownership. In May, The Denver Post reported that restaurateur Khagendra Gurung, who owns Himchuli Indian next door, as well as Mazevo Mediterranean Eatery and others, had taken over in 2024 and was renovating the space and planning to recreate the same pizza recipes.

Saigon Noodle Club

After running Pho King Rapidos as a food truck and a stall at Avanti Food and Beverage, Long Nguyen and Shauna Seamen moved on this year — which The Denver Post reported in April — debuting a new spin on their Vietnamese food with Saigon Noodle Club in the Edgewater Public Market. In addition to pho — made with a 24-hour bone broth and brisket or beef meatballs — they are now serving grilled noodle bowls with beef or chicken, “sticky icky” wings, rice paper spring rolls, salt-and-pepper tofu and other dishes.
