Fish Recall Map Shows States With New Warning

Quality Poultry & Seafood, Inc. is recalling nearly 100,000 pounds of catfish fillet products due to the fillets being produced without federal inspection.
Why It Matters
Numerous public health alerts and recalls have been initiated this year because of the potential for damaged products, foodborne illness, contamination and undeclared food allergens.
Millions of Americans experience food sensitivities or allergies. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the nine “major” food allergens in the United States are eggs, milk, fish, wheat, soybeans, crustacean shellfish, sesame, tree nuts and peanuts.
What To Know
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the fillets were produced from September 2, 2024, until September 5, 2025, and shipped to retail and restaurant locations in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and from the company’s retail store.
“Food produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk,” the FSIS warns.
According to the alert, the products impacted by the recall are:

The FSIS, in part, in the recall: “The problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that they were producing catfish products and FSIS determined they were produced without inspection. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.”

What Happens Next
People who have purchased the recalled products are asked to return them to the original place of purchase, and restaurants are asked not to serve them, the alert says.
