Firefighter's sick tweet about 'rape capital of Europe' as he's convicted of the crime

A firefighter named Terence Crosbie has been found guilty of rape. Since his appearance in court, posts he shared to X have been revealed, including one where he suggested that Stockholm, Sweden, was "worth a trip" due to its "6ft blondes" and being the "most unreported rape capital of Europe". The disturbing comment has been revealed following the conviction of the twisted Dublin Fire Brigade worker for raping a woman in a Boston hotel room in March 2024. Crosbie will be sentenced on Thursday and faces up to 20 years in prison for the crime. Crosbie posted the twisted message on his X account, under the handle DubKid86, on April 20, 2017. The tweet seemed to be referring to the upcoming Europa League Final, set to take place at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm, Sweden the next month. His post read: "6ft blondes and most unreported rape capital of Europe sure even if it's Vigo vs Lyon be worth a trip". Prosecutors had sought to introduce the tweet as evidence during the trial, but it was not allowed, meaning the jury never saw it, according to the Irish Mirror . The prosecution argued in their submission that the tweet was relevant to show Crosbie's motive and intent, stating it was "the evidence is admissible to show the defendant's motive and intent and is more probative than prejudicial". They suggested if Crosbie were to testify, he would deny any involvement in the rape and instead claim a third party was responsible or that the victim fabricated the incident. The submission concluded with the statement: "The Commonwealth seeks to cross-examine the defendant about his earlier public Twitter post. In that post, the defendant intimates that travelling to a city with where one can rape with impunity would be 'worth a trip'." However, the application was rejected. It claims the post referenced Amsterdam, the Irish Mirror learned it was actually concerning Stockholm in Sweden and the 2017 Europa Final. The judgment stated: "The tweet is relevant to defendant's state of mind as it permits reasonable inference that in 2017, Amsterdam was a place where a tall blonde female would not report a rape. "The tweet however is seven years before this incident and is not about Boston or the United States and is not a trip planned with his Boston travelling companion." Other posts were shared to his Twitter, including one image, where he photographed himself next to an outdoor fire pit. He's dressed in a white gown while smoking a cigar. A bottle of Red Breast whiskey can also be seen. He wrote beneath the snap: "W****** on a Banker". In another from December 2023, he uploaded footage of what looks like a bloke grappling with a lion, supposedly filmed in the 1930s. Crosbie wrote: "Men in the 1930s sparring Lions barehanded Men in 2023 looking to get a vagina and be called by a pronoun of their choice". Last Friday, Crosbie was convicted of rape by a jury in Boston. The 39-year-old was found guilty of raping a woman during St Patrick's Day festivities in March 2024. Crosbie's initial trial, which took place last June, resulted in a mistrial after the jury remained deadlocked following more than four days of deliberations. The disgraced firefighter had travelled to the city with a group of Dublin firefighters who were due to participate in the St Patrick's Day parade. His victim informed the court she encountered Crosbie's hotel roommate, Liam O'Brien, at the Black Rose pub on the evening of the assault. She testified that she had fallen asleep on a separate bed from O'Brien and woke to find a different man, "also with an Irish accent," attacking her. The 29-year-old woman who alleged Crosbie raped her said that in the early hours of March 15, 2024, after going back to a hotel with Liam O'Brien, she woke to discover a man penetrating her, and telling her it was "pathetic" that "his friend couldn't give that," calling him a "loser".
