Fired Earth: administration forces luxury homeware chain to close all UK tiles showrooms - with 133 jobs lost

Fired Earth, a British luxury tile and home interiors chain, is closing all UK showroomsThe company collapsed into administration, leading to 133 staff redundanciesOnly the Banbury head office and warehouse will remain open to fulfil existing ordersShowrooms affected include Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Cheltenham, Truro, Nottingham, Chester, Knutsford, and HarrogateThe chain also had international stores in Denmark and Norway, with potential buyers showing interest in asset-only acquisitions Luxury tiling and home interiors fans are facing disappointing news, with a British chain known for high-end tiles and design products set to close all its showrooms after collapsing into administration. Fired Earth customers who had been planning kitchen or bathroom makeovers may need to rethink their plans, while those with recent orders are being urged to check on their purchases. Administrators Dane O’Hara and Neil Bennett of Leonard Curtis were appointed on October 31, 2025, following months of mounting losses. “Fired Earth has been loss-making for some time,” O’Hara said. “In the last three years, the company has been supported by its shareholder via substantial working capital loans while efforts were made to return the business to profitability. “Unfortunately, the company continued to incur trading losses, and its investor was not prepared to provide further funding in the absence of a viable turnaround strategy.” The business had posted a turnover of around £15 million, but losses of £1.6 million in 2024, following a similar deficit the previous year, highlighted the challenges it faced. These financial difficulties have ultimately led to the redundancy of 133 staff across its UK network. Which Fired Earth stores and showrooms will close? Fired Earth is preparing to to shut all of its showrooms following its collapse into administration. The company, which operated 20 UK showrooms and supplied a further 22 independent stockists, will retain only its Banbury head office and warehouse to fulfil existing orders. Locations set to close include major towns and cities such as Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Cheltenham, Truro, Nottingham, Chester, Knutsford, and Harrogate. Fired Earth also had two international stores in Denmark and Norway. While Fired Earth’s showrooms have been a go-to destination for premium homeware, many independent stockists may still carry its products, offering a potential alternative.
