Fired college football coach's daughter forced to delete 'tone deaf' video amid firing: 'Not crying over millionaires'

The daughter of former Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze posted a 'tone deaf' video after his firing - and the backlash she received led her to delete the clip altogether. Freeze, 56, was let go by the Tigers last weekend after three difficult seasons, as he left the school with a 4-5 record this year and an overall mark of 15-19. But with the coach reportedly owed a buyout of $15.8million, fans were in little mood to hear the complaints of his daughter, Madi, as she detailed the 'reality of what many families are walking through right now' in a TikTok. Madi took aim at the school, claiming 'we were promised four years', and she accused Auburn of not repaying the love her family showed. She also said she was in 'a daze' and didn't know how she would do her two presentations this week. And after being slammed by fans for her video, the clip is no longer on her TikTok feed, though it has been preserved by others online. The coach's firing came midway through his six-year, $49m deal. 'People can say what they want about money - go live your life, get paid, whatever, blah blah blah... that's just not how it is,' Madi said. 'There's not enough money that can make you feel like this is worth it.' She continued: 'Obviously we came here hoping to restore a program and we were promised four years and that didn't happen. 'There's frustration, there's hurt... I get that people didn't see the results they wanted in three years but we all knew this was going to be much longer than a three-year rebuild.' However, amid a disappointing season for the Tigers, her comments did not go over well with fans. 'This is tone-deaf... Auburn deserves to have a great program not the subpar one that he’s delivered,' one wrote. Another added: 'I understand there’s a human side to it, but to get $15m to not work anymore is truly ridiculous to cry about, the average American makes $60k a year. It will be ok.' A third asked whether Freeze was expecting fans 'to feel bad' for her and her family. 'Your dad failed at his job. The product he put on the field was abysmal,' they wrote. 'Enjoy the 15m dollar buyout, y’all will be fine. Plenty of time for him to play golf!' Freeze, who has been replaced by D.J. Durkin on an interim basis, got the Auburn gig after an impressive four years at Liberty, where he led the school to a 34-15 record. Prior to that, he led Ole Miss to a 39-25 overall record over five seasons at spent a single season at Arkansas State. The coach is currently battling health issues after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in February. He said in the spring that he would wait until after the season before going under the knife. And following his firing, his daughter even claimed there was some 'twisted' relief in her dad's dismissal after seeing his health 'deteriorate' during his tenure. 'He's not healthy,' she said while a message flashed up on the screen. 'As y'all boo him out of the stadium,' it read.
