The Finnish fuel station network SEO is seeking to lure Teboil franchise operators into joining its ranks. Teboil is a subsidiary of the Russian company Lukoil. According to SEO's Arto Viljanen, the company has contacted nearly all Teboil station owners across Finland to gauge their willingness to switch to SEO. There are several dozen Teboil franchise operators in Finland. The company runs around 400 service stations, roughly 80 of which have on-site staff. SEO, by comparison, operates just over 240 stations nationwide. Some of Teboil's customers have also defected to SEO. The company has already benefited from Teboil's recent troubles, with fuel sales at SEO stations rising sharply — at some outlets by tens of percent. Last month, Finnish energy firm Neste suspended fuel deliveries to Teboil following new sanctions on Moscow. In October, US President Donald Trump hit Lukoil with sanctions, saying companies doing business with subsidiaries of Russian oil companies Lukoil and Roseneft could also be sanctioned.
