Finnair's comparable operating profit fell to approximately 51 million euros in July–September of this year. That was down by around 30 percent from a year earlier, when the carrier posted a profit of around 72 million euros in Q3. According to the company, a series of walkouts during the spring and summer put a 68-million-euro dent in its result. Finnair's revenue, on the other hand, grew by two percent to approximately 835 million euros. The number of passengers increased to 3.3 million from 3.2 million the previous year. Finnair cancelled over 1,200 flights during the spring and summer due to industrial action by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU). That labour dispute was finally resolved in mid-July after dragging on for more than half a year. In its outlook for the rest of the year, the flag carrier said that it expects global air traffic to keep growing. However, it noted that international conflicts, political instability, tariffs and possible trade wars all cause uncertainty. While asserting "sustainability is at the core of [its] strategy", Finnair said that its "profitability is burdened particularly by additional costs caused by the sustainable aviation fuel distribution obligation introduced in the EU".
