The San Antonio Spurs are on the road on Sunday night as they travel to take on the Phoenix Suns in a Western Conference matchup. San Antonio has had a strong start to the season as they enter Sunday’s game with a perfect 5-0 record after defeating the Miami Heat at home on Thursday night. In Thursday’s victory over the Heat, Victor Wembanyama led the way for the Spurs as he recorded 27 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and five blocks while Stephon Castle ended the game with 21 points, six rebounds, eight assists and four steals. Now the Spurs will try to extend their winning streak to six games to begin the season in Sunday’s matchup against a struggling Suns team. On the other side, the Suns enter Sunday’s contest with a 2-4 record, though they are coming off their second win of the season on Friday night against the Utah Jazz. Devin Booker led the way for the Suns in Friday’s victory as he ended the game with 36 points, six rebounds and nine assists while Ryan Dunn recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds. While both teams are looking for a key victory in Sunday night’s matchup, both teams may be without multiple key players due to injuries. Spurs Injury Report, Will De’Aaron Fox, Luke Kornet Play? For the Spurs, they have five players listed on their injury report for Sunday’s game, including star point guard De’Aaron Fox. San Antonio has ruled out Fox for Sunday’s contest due to a right hamstring strain that has sidelined him to begin the season. With Fox sidelined, Castle will likely remain San Antonio’s starting point guard while rookie Dylan Harper could continue to have a large role off the bench. The Spurs have also ruled out Luke Kornet due to a left ankle sprain while Kelly Olynyk, Jeremy Sochan and Lindy Waters III remain sidelined. Suns Injury Report, Will Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks Play? On the other side, the Suns have three players listed on their injury report for Sunday’s game, including both Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks. Phoenix has ruled out Green due to a right hamstring strain that has sidelined to begin the season as he still has yet to make his Suns debut. With Green sidelined, Grayson Allen will likely continue to start in his place alongside Booker in the backcourt. The Suns have also ruled out Brooks due to a core muscle strain as he will miss his fourth consecutive contest. With Brooks out on Sunday, Royce O’Neale and Dunn could continue to have a larger role for Phoenix. Phoenix has also listed Isaiah Livers as doubtful for Sunday’s game due to a right hip contusion and he is not expected to play. Fans can catch Sunday’s matchup between the Spurs and Suns from Phoenix at 8:00 p.m. EST.
