The Dallas Mavericks are on the road on Friday night as they travel to take on the Memphis Grizzlies in a Western Conference matchup as part of NBA Cup group play. Dallas enters Friday’s game with a 2-6 record as they have struggled to start the season and they are coming off a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at home on Wednesday night. In Wednesday’s loss to the Pelicans, Cooper Flagg led the way for the Mavericks as he ended the game with 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals while P.J. Washington added 15 points and 11 rebounds of his own. Now the Mavericks will try to end their three-game losing streak on the road on Friday night against the Grizzlies. On the other side, the Grizzlies enter Friday’s game with a 3-6 record after losing to the Houston Rockets at home on Wednesday night. Ja Morant led the way for the Grizzlies in Wednesday’s loss as he recorded 17 points, five rebounds and eight assists while Santi Aldama recorded 16 points and four rebounds off the bench. While both teams are looking for a key victory in Friday’s matchup to try and turn their season around, both squads may be without multiple key players due to injuries. Mavericks Injury Report, Will Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II Play? For the Mavericks, they enter Friday’s game with four players listed on their injury report, including star big man Anthony Davis. Dallas has listed Davis as doubtful for Friday’s contest due to a left calf strain that has caused him to miss the last three games for the Mavericks after he suffered the injury against the Indiana Pacers on October 29. With Davis expected to be sidelined once again on Friday, Daniel Gafford will likely continue to have an increased role but the good news for the Mavericks is that it appears as though Davis is nearing a return. The Mavericks have ruled out Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively II and Dante Exum for Friday’s game as they continue to be sidelined due to injuries. Grizzlies Injury Report, Will Zach Edey, Ty Jerome Play? On the other side, Memphis has four players listed on their injury report for Friday’s game against the Mavericks. Memphis has ruled out Zach Edey, Ty Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr. and Brandon Clarke for Friday’s game as they continue to be sidelined to begin the season.
